Ships holding fire

Post by II/JG77Hawk_5 »

In Iwo Jima I have found the friendly fire from landing craft a problem.

In FMB testing the SLEEP function gets ships to hold fire for however long whilst still moving on their merry way if that is what they need to do.

Can this feature be added as a function for shipping?

SLEEP is just a timer for the unit to hold fire from mission start. This could be very helpful in landings such as Iwo or many other scenarios where shipping is in close range and could be told to hold fire for the duration of the mission or until a time when friendly units are hopefully out of the way. It does not stop the ships from moving so they can still be enroute to waypoints and so on.

Eg. Second wave landing craft and other shipping could approach and not be blasting away at anything for whole mission or until in position (delay time estimated on waypoint ETA).

Not sure which way to implement if this is seriously considered.

Maybe an initial waypoint function, a right click dropdown menu item or a mission variation tool function?
Mission variation tool seems best way to me as planned movements can be reviewed and appropriate Hold Fire time entered.
