Question ref aircraft line up

Post by =69.GIAP=REDVO »

SALUTE

Hi comrades,

Question is, is there a way to control the aircraft line up when you are at the planning stage.

It would be ideal to know how one can get the bombers to start at the tail end/rear of the airfield with the fighters in front, as it gives them more runway hence avoiding some crashes on certain airfields or conditions.

thanks for assistance & great work you all put into this.

Hi Redvo,

I've never really investigated this. There may be a way to do this by ordering flights in the mission file, I'm not sure.

The DCS option "Air starts for Escorts" can alleviate some of the problems.

SALUTE Comrade,

Thanks for prompt reply, as always

Well, I must say it's a bugger if you don't know!!

Is it possible for someone with the full knowledge & expertise like yourself to see if there is a possibilty of understanding a bit more the line-up mentallity that il2 with seow uses?

Thanks

Hi Redvo,

It should be simple to work out. Use FMB to place bombers and fighters to take off from the same runway. Save the file. Then host the coop to see the order that IL-2 places them on the runway. Use Notepad to change the order of flights in the mission file (in BOTH Wings and Waypoints sections) and see whether IL-2 obeys the order of flights in the mission file.

If IL-2 obeys the flight order, then we have a chance to get SEOW to write bombers before fighters in the mission file.

I was under the impression that order of planning is directly tied to runway takeoff order, meaning that you should always plan your bombers as a first flight from each airfield. I can not be sure about this (never tested it actually) but its a long standing "order" for my squads planners...

cheers

SALUTE

Comrades I've run several tests in IL2 HSFX4 FMB -Smolensk Map.

The result are as follows:

I planned in this order

4 x heavy bombers
4 x fighters

The first planned mission, 4 x heavies, are placed first on the runway.
The Second planned mission, 4 x fighters, are placed second on the runway, pushing the bombers forward.

I then kept on adding flights of different types so as not to confuse myself & the effect is the same all the time, as you add flights to the runway, il2 does not care if they are fighters or bombers, they start at the rear & push the previous set-up FORWARD.

So indeed, if you want bombers at the 'back - tail end of runway' (ideal situation, heavy loaded, need max runway length) they must be planned LAST, according to the FMB.

This indeed contradicts from what our friend 102nd-HR-cmirko mentioned, but is what my results show.

I am unable to test in seow, i am am not apt in the skills required, further than mission planning itself against the enemies of our motherland, sorry, I'm a git!!

Can someone else (more talented than myself) please test the above & confirm or deny the above please.

It would be good info for commanders!

Thanks
