I'm not much of a computer geek but was curious why this happens.

It's a false positive, I scanned it with 41 antivirus programs. :D

https://www.virustotal.com/

I always check what my antivirus programs wants to do, in fact my antivirus programs have caused me almost as much grief as viruses.

Some antivirus programs detect false virus each time they found .EXE files.

Some users have the same behavior when connect to my IL2's database

Some antivirus programs count the number of times programs have been downloaded. If its a small number, they try to remind you that the antivirus program was worth buying in the first place.

I was hoping that someone more tech oriented than myself would pick up the ball here and run with it.

Clearly there is a problem and I have selected a blog that explains it. The false positive I posted was one of 5 I recieved all of them were from open sourse software,

If you feel frustrated, like me, about all these false alerts, you can help me and other small developers to stop Antivirus programs from detecting innocent tools as Viruses/Trojans.

Run with it where? There is no technical solution to this problem.

Ok so it requires a political solution :D the SEOW community is a force to be reckoned with  I really had no idea it was as serious an issue as it is for some small developers until I looked into it. This thread can now be moved to the political section as I have made my point.
