Sorry guys, its not working out too well for me atm , I'm going to have to give it a miss for a few weeks till Christmas/New Year is over & things get back to normal.
If wifey doesn't lift her game soon I'm going to trade her in for a pooch !

Merry Xmas to all.

cheers

As an experiment I am hoping it is ok with all participants to enable a line in Conf.ini in the usual server so that no multiplayer messages are posted during the the mission. This means that when a human pilot is shot down or the controls are damaged etc. there won't be a message in white that is normally displayed at the top of screen for all to see. This is purely to improve immersion and deny everyone any knowledge as to who or what has been lost or damaged in combat at the time. You won't know until the stats are up.

I like the idea of not knowing whether that was a human pilot or AI that shot you down or finding out whether someone has landed and exited the game etc. All little snippets of intel that we wouldn't know in RL and maintains a level of tension that may diminish if you know someone has been forced out of the mission for what ever reason. If possible, I would even consider removing the ability for clients to see who is still in game just to take the idea to its limit.

Anyway, I do hope we can run Illustrious tonight and if there are no objections I'll run the server with messages off. Of course if anyone has issue with this please discuss!

No objections at all, I love the idea. Do clients need to change anything?

I don't think so but the line I'm adding is to the chat section like so below.
I guess if you want to add it yourself as well to be sure thats fine but I think the server side should cover it.

[chat]

autoLogDetail=0

...............................................
On-Line Stat Messages

You can set the key to the following options:
0 - disables all stat messages.
1 - only player-vs-player kill messages are displayed.
2 - displays player-vs-player, and AI-vs-player kill messages.
3 - a lot of chit-chatting."

Saturday 21st mission wasn't run due to a lack of planning on both sides combined with a lack of attendance.
Unless there are any issues lets try and get it back on track next weekend.

oops, sorry. Thought, after Ikey's post, the mission will be delayed. Therefore I didn't finish the plans.
My fault.

Not to worry,
I was a bit too keen to get things rolling and hoped that there were still enough to keep it going.
We'll hold off until Ikey is back on deck and planning when he can. Until then there is Korosten and the Cerberus Campaigns to keep things interesting over the holiday period.

Sorry about any confusion I may have caused.

Hey 5 , you could talk some of the others into throwing up quick plans for a Pelican, not so critical as Malta & all the madness I'm trying to put in place. Definitely get Malta back on track once New Year out the way.

PS: Damn it, I'm still at work here & see you're running a Cerberus !

Cheers

Sorry Luny,
yes as it eventuated there was no mission for the 28th. I took it from Ikey's last post that we wait until at least past New Year before getting back into it.
On another note I also had my Dad staying over from interstate and was exhausted. I got an early night instead.

Lets look towards a go ahead from Ikey after New Years before we lock in a mission date. We can all complete planning for the next mission in the meantime as much as possible so we wll be ready to go when we get the word.

Cheers,
