Last New Guinea trk review request

Post by 102nd-YU-devill » Sat Feb 13, 2010 8:45 am

Hi all,

I'd like to ask any of the admins to look over the track from the last New Guinea mission, around the time frame of the A20C attacks on the IJN Maru Steamer.

The transport wasn't sunk, and frankly, we have no idea what happened.

I presume that my squadron mates just missed all attempts due to very bad visibility, however, I would like this confirmed by the track if possible.

We do have changes in the DM of ships in HSFX4.11, so I just want to be sure this isn't some new bug.

I have tested this in the FMB on my machine, and everything seems to work fine.

Thank you.

This ship was not affected by changes in HSFX4.11.

Thx for the info Maraz, as I said, I just wanted to check.

Anyway, I would appreciate if someone can take a look at the track and tell me what happened.

Did your pilots die before torpedo hits?

if yes torpedo don't make any damage.. ( Some flaw in IL-2 code.. or just ensuring that no one make suicide attack whit bomb/torpedo)

And they were on move so maybe one or two misses...

I didn't know that server is taking track from mission... if that is true is there possibility to get these tracks ofter campaign?
If you find me. I'll be shot down.

No, actually 4 planes with 4x500lbs bombs, so 8 drops in total.

I was flying around them, observing, and I couldn't see any hits, or misses. No bomb detonations at all. Maybe due to advanced bomb and torpedo mod delay of 2.5sec.

Anyway, my pilots are claiming they should have hit it, and I need to tell them something.

So if an admin has a lot of extra time, I would like to ask him, again, to take a look at it. It can turn out to be a lot of misses, that couldn't be seen due to fog, or it can turn out to be some sort of a bug.

Personally I am betting on the first, but would like to confirm it.

The bomb fuse mod is dumb and pointless from my point of view, it should be separated from the torpedo mod.

I love the torpedo mod but hate the bomb mod.

On low level bomb runs i can't get any bombs to detonate.
They seem to be duds everytime when i drop them lower then 300m.
And you can't skip bomb anymore.

They did drop in WW2 from very low altitudes bombs so i really can't understand this fuse mod at all.

Actually you can, without it it is too easy to skip bomb.

You can drop from 30m and still get a detonation, just depends on the angle and velocity.

I love the whole mod :)

Could you send me a track of your succesfull skip bombingrun please.
I've tried over 50 times of it and i just can't get it to work and i can't see anything wrong in my tracks why the bombs wont detonate.

Does the aircraft arming options bombdelay time have any matter how it's set???

for skip bombing use 300-360 km/h and max 40m in level flight and boom. This parameter is a goog compromise

Also, if you drop the bomb too close to the enemy ship, it will not travel enough to arm. It must be allowed to actually hit the water and skip on it.

No offence guys but i do know the principals of skip bombing, those guides you gave are what i typically use myself and they wont work for me with the fuse mod...with out it no problems at all.

I've allready tried higher and lower altitudes from 10m to 80m with different release angle's from level flight to small negative and positive nose positions.

The bomb skips on water for 2-4 times before hitting the side of a ship and no explosion or it just sinks under water and no explosion.

I use a 2sec delay for bombs.

Maybe it is a problem with that particular bomb type. Have you tried other bomb types?

Nope, it's the same with all types of bombs, German, Japs, Russian, Yanks, Brits.

Could my bomb&torpedo mod be corrupt somehow?
Can it be downloaded somewhere by it's own and not the full package?

After testing values got from paddington that also didn't work i figured that maybe a reinstall is the only hope for my problem.

So i download all the hsfx packs that took about 16h to get.

Now after installing and patching hsfx to 4.11 hotfix it seems that atleast the bombs are now detonating.

Still, i don't like the +2sec arming time anymore the before.
