The Maiden Pages

Post by =69.GIAP=MORAK » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:18 pm

Well as I have seen in other threads that some of us share the love of Iron Maiden and the love of history, particularly wars. so I decided to start this page.

We all know that the meaning of "Aces High" the story of the brave pilots fighting over the Channel. But one song that I found Odd was "The Trooper" one of my favorites. dickenson says " you will take my life but I will take yours to, you'll fire your musket but I will run you though" and later he says "when a Russian gets me in his sights" that got me to thinking that I dont remember studying anything about Russia and England fighting especially with Muskets. So I googled it and found this:

Intresting considering that Dickenson said before joining Maiden that he wanted to be a History Proffessor. Enjoy!

Wow! You can never really understand a song till you listen.... instead of trying to learn how to play it! I listened to this tonight

And I realised it wasnt JUST a song about history of the indians but a political point of view. And I have to say I agree with him.

Just read the wiki article about the Crimean war of 1853.

Very interesting read, thanks.

I was astounded that the whole reason behind the war was that they were fighting over control of the churches in the holy land, and essentialy who would call the shots for the christians in the holy land.

Fighting over Israel... how quaint

History (and how it repeats itself) never ceases to amaze me 8)
