Start Date and Xmas period

Post by 242Sqn_Chap » Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:47 pm

I posted this to EAF Classic (thank you for initiating this) a few threads below but I think it should head a thread :-

I think there could feasably be scheduling that would 'get around' or 'incorporate the festive period:-

Its short notice but a provisional plan might be to get up some momentum NOW and TO START this campaign on Monday 14th ! Thats not many days away but I can get everything to the Centmed planners tomorrow evening if required !...and others the day after with Eastfront after its slightly later in the schedule:-

How about this ?:-
Next week 14th -20th:-
ALL mission as Scheduled at set days and start times.

Then we have two weeks of festivites 21st - 03rd January:-

However we could fit one weeks worth of missions into those two weeks with a little juggling:-

21st Monday:- Centmed Mission 2

26th Saturday:- TheSlot 2

27th Sunday:- Crimea 2

28th Monday:- Libya 2

02nd Jan Saturday:- Kuban 2 (or an appropriate time and day chosen by US players)

03rd Jan Sunday:- Midway 2 (there is an Israeli Holiday around here I remember ? in which case we could swap this with Crimea ?)

(some of these days are ass rrequested anyway...switched missions are on the 'alternate' or second day usually already agreed by the squads.)

Then January 4th onwards we would be into a conventional third week at set days and times.

SO over the two festive weeks we could fit in a weeks worth of missions on the desired days but sliding over the two week period to avoid the festive and impossible days.

What do people think about this and of course the 'Bombshell' of starting next Monday ?

Its this option or we wait until after Christmas and new year to start (and this is really starting to get very late isn't it.)

Nooo, do NOT wait until New Year! Star next Monday, that is fine.

I would also opted for more issions during festivities but the proposed schedule is fine.

We are all very anxious to start with the campaign so any more delay would be counter-productive IMO.

I will get the planner Passwords to the Centmed planner this evening.

With hopefully Libya and the Supply sectors to GCHQ's to follow.

Pacific and Eastfront soon after 9tomorrow in all probablility after we runa a few more checks after updating the DB's to latest version.

Sorry, I have to totally disagree.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would start this event before the Xmas/New Year period has finished. Many people with lives outside of IL2/SEOW are away, have other things organised etc. etc. To announce this at such short notice gets the whole thing off to a poor start. As for suggesting Boxing Day

I've spent months setting up a Xmas Special for our squadron and I've been pushing players to sign-up, download skins - even book their work nights to fit in. Guess when? Sunday 20th Dec ('they'll never start the SEOW thing before start of January!').

Running it over Xmas is a kick in the teeth for all those 'other halfs' who support our IL2 habit and were looking forward to a couple of week's break!

Really looking forward to it but this, imho, is not the way to go. Many do have lives outside IL2, even if they are small ones :D

Cheers

Charlie, could you stop the campaign during these periods:

- Dec 20-31: My children are at home
- Jan 10-17: The mother of my wife will come for ski holidays
- Jan 19-20: My wife's Birthday, I have to go to restaurant.

Thanks in advance Charlie!

Please do not forget the Orthodox Christmas on the 7th of January!

I don't know how anyone can fly then?

Everyone should be drunk! (from happiness and goodwill, of course  )

This is not good for the IAF.

Midway is supposed to run on Thursdays.
On Sunday we are supposed to run Crimea.

I think the schedule is good. Those that have other plans can fly missions after the Christmas season. I don't see any problem going ahead.
