Korosten Technics and Vehicle Skins Mod

Post by IV/JG7_4Shades » Sun Apr 28, 2013 7:31 am

Get the Korosten Mod here: http://seowhq.net/4Simages/KZBK/KorostenModv0.3a.zip

It is mandatory to run HSFX v6.0.17 with the following Mods loaded in the following order:

HSFX history mod
Expert mode
Hakenkreuz Enabler (optional)
Perfect Map Textures (optional)
Korosten Mod v0.2

Big thanks to Emil for his careful re-working of unit armour and effective ranges etc, plus the winter skins for some vehicles.

Cheers,
4S

Something seems odd with the Panzerwerfer range.

It´s 3000m instead of 6900m.

Can you readjust that please?

The Panzerwerfer gets 6900 m range in barrage mode, and 3000 m range in direct fire mode.

By the way, the BA-10 and BA-64 seem to be rather slow moving, especially in comparison with halftracks and other trucks etc.

Thats becsuse they were shitty non all weel drive with very bad undercarriage that were known to move very slow off road and even worse in snow.

How do I switch on the barrage mode on the Panzerwerfer?

Just go to Logistics:Barrages and select your unit and give it a target coordinate on the map (by clicking). That's it.

Updated the Mod to v0.3, please go ahead and download this.

I tweaked a couple of vehicle and tank speeds up and down:

BA-64 up from 6 kmh to 16 kmh
SU85 up from 8 kmh to 22 kmh
OpelBlitzMaultier down from 50 kmh to 25 kmh
OpelBlitzMaultierAA down from 50 kmh to 25 kmh
OpelBlitzMaultierRocket down from 50 kmh to 25 kmh

I also went through Object_Specifications and corrected some speed problems, especially where some objects are now horse-drawn but did not have their usual vehicle-drawn speeds altered. A lot of units on both sides are now much slower!

There is no way that the speeds are now perfectly matched and appropriate across all types. But we are getting things ironed out. Kudos goes to Emil for placing 2WD vs 4WD capability into the calculations. My feeling about the BA-64 was that if it was used as a scout car by many countries (until 1956 in Korea!), then it was probably able to go faster than walking pace in most off-road conditions and ought to be not far off comparable to a laden 4x4 truck in reasonable snow.

No doubt more conversations to be had.

Cheers,

I confused:
why did I slow down the Su-85 to such a slow speed?
It´s tracked and therefore shouldn´t have any penalty.
It´s average/cross-country speed should be 24km/h.

Same question for Maultier.

I do not agrre that much to the Ba-64, however.
I was known to have a very bad undercarriage
- wheels stand too narrow
- 50hp/2.36 tons
- bullet proof wheels slowed down the car even more
- very bad visibility for the driver

Because the Ba-64 was such a terrible car in winter and off roead conditions the Soviets developed a speacial winter version, the Ba-64Z(Zimniy=Winter).
Even this winter version had an average speed of 7.6 km/h in snow off road. And that was consideres good in February 1944!

@ ALL:
PLEASE CHECK THE SPEEDS AND OTHER VALUES OF THE VEHICLES YOU ARE COAMMANDING.
I obviously made somne errors there that might be also found in other places.

For sure was that bad, Emil. What doesn't look has much sense is that a truck with about the same engine power and vehicle weight can drive faster (double) on the snow than this vehicle, especially designed as recon vehicle.
Curiously, the BA-10 was able to fit tracks on the rear wheels pair, giving them extra mobility on snow... but barely seen after winter 1941-42 (Wikipedia dixit)

I do not try to start a discussion about each vehicle real/virtual capabilities. I'm sure each commander can fit to his units performance and plan accordingly.

Link in the first message updated to v0.3a . Now max speeds are above average speeds! (thanks to Emil)

The main difference that is affecting the performance of the Maultier has tracks, the Ba-64 doesn´t.

The truck I was comparing the BA-64 with, is the GAZ-AA truck wich was a copy of the Ford AA truck with a 50 HP (or less) engine, and already included in the campaign settings.

Ah now I see what you mean and its true, they have the same power to empty weight ratio.
I am just very curtious why the Rusians were happy with the snow performance of the winter version Ba-64Z, when it was doing 7.6 km/h in snow.

The idea was that tracked vehicles get no penalty, all wheel drives get 1/3 penalty, normal vehicles get 2/3 penalty and everything on foot gets 1/2 penalty.

"7.6 km/h in snow. "

That's decent speed in Russian snow.

We need a technics file for each type of weather in SEOW. I developed one for clear, snow and rain.

1 / .5/ .25 ratio for ground speeds, fuel ranges, refire rates, delay after fire, etc. was my basic formula.

We would need a column in object specs to match these values.

We will be using this mod for Zhitomir ops as well (for HSFX-hosted missions).
