PHASE 2 - VICTORY STATUS

Post by Petr » Wed Mar 05, 2014 6:07 am

Hi all,

The first 4 missions have seen heavy action with massive fleets in open battle off around Cape Bon and subsequent heavy losses for both sides, although the Italian Navy certainly got the better of the engagement. Air power played a key part in sinking HMS Indomitable, HMS King George V, HMS Duke of York and HMS Malaya and other smaller MenOfWar. Not to mention the massive loss of life when the ships carrying the 78th Division and the 6th Armoured Bgde to Malta went down in flames.

The Allies got a small taste of revenge by sinking the BB Cesare and damaging RM Littorio and several Cruisers but will need to bring their A-game in order to even the score.

This is not a battle for the faint of heart and the Allies are on the defensive and struggling for their very survival! Still, nothing has been decided and victory is still within reach for both sides. The pivotal, crucial battle will be fought in the air, on the sea and ground near that small island in the middle of the Central Mediteranean, that small island called Malta.

The next 12 missions will decide the course of history! Will it repeat itself? Or shall the Axis achieve one of the most daring, and difficult, amphibious operations that _could_ have been of World War 2?

If anyone wonder why we left alive those few gun crews on Malta, here is your answer...

They said they know how to play soccer...

So we played.....

.....and this is how Italy Serie A League was born

....with a little persuasion from Ju88s

Nice pics,
but Italian Serie A starts in 1898!
That's why Churchill said about italians "...they go at stadium as in war and in war as at stadium!"
