Personally not keen on the radical approach.
If keeping with a float plane then maybe AR196.
Looking at some of the Alf basics " The aircraft (biplane) was armed with one fixed forward firing machine gun and two rear-firing flexibly mounted guns, and carried a crew of three, each with their own separate open cockpit" another option could be a Japanese swordfish, default loadouts & skin. Not a seaplane but similar in other ways, just would need to change the seaplane tender types to all AR196 & as its a far more deadly option make those ones rookies.

In the end I'll be happy which ever way you go.

On second thoughts you could just reduce the number of R-x111 TH (Alf's) at seaplane bases leaving some as human flyable only, I'm sure Scannon is itching to get into one  & up the AR196 Jakes. The Alf's should be ok from the tender but I haven't tested that yet.

Good idea. If humans can take off in the Alfs then we'll use them that way.

You mean you'll be using them for target practise

Excuse my ignorance here but how will the Seaplane tender work with take offs while under steam ? I only see a stationary ship version in fmb.

I think the tender needs to be stationary to deploy and recover a plane.

Thanks 4Shades , I thought that might be the case .I hope the AI take off ok planned from the MP ,atm I can't get them to work in fmb.

Also sitting there stationary in the open for the 2 hour mission isn't really a good option but we don't have much choice.

Anyway these are test missions so lets see what happens.

Hey Ikey,

One of the features I am most interested in exploring is the capability of the Seaplane Tender , and the future consideration of what might be improved with it.
Do remember that it can only take off maximum 2 flights ( why I don't know) and the second flight will not take off if each aircraft isn't player operated.

I'll let you know what I decide about the RXIII. I'm inclined to keep it in reduced numbers , and compensate the Rising Sun in some other regard.

I tried to use a Ter-Hydro with a seaplane tender in FMB and an actual coop and it failed. First the AI cannot take off from water (with or without a tender) and I couldn't even start the engine of the Ter-Hydro when I flew it. An AI Ter-Hydro slaved to a tender would not even start its engines.

So then I changed the Ter-Hydro to an Ar-196. Everything works fine, with and without a tender. I have not tried this in an SEOW mission yet.

Conclusion: the Ter-Hydro seems to be deficient in some way - needs java code correction I suspect.

Cheers,

I have removed the Lublin RXIII Ter Hydro aka Kawanishi E7K "Alf" from the Task Force 8 Campaign.

Despite Ikey's pathetic grovelling , I have NOT replaced the E7K with the Lerche.
I have adjusted the numbers of the other recon seaplanes/float planes in the airframe count to attempt to balance the loss of these potent fighting machines.

More pathetic grovelling , apart from including the Lerche could you pls set the sub IJN I-23_SS to autonomous.

cheers

Also: Quote 'Your Junks are assigned as picket vessels and may set up up to 50 km from any atoll. They are independent of C and C.'

I see the type A patrol junk is independent but the other fishing junks aren't.

I will adjust the I-23 and the unarmed Junks to be autonomous this evening ,
but don't get the idea that this grovelling is an effective strategy!

Just checked the Object Specs Table.
The I-Class Sub was already listed as CC -1 (Auto)
I changed the Junk to CC -1 (Auto).

You might have to dig deeper , it's out of C & C. The other 3 are ok , show (auto) & can move but not I-23.
