Balanced plane set proposal NE AFRICA SECTOR

Post by Petr » Tue Jul 30, 2013 1:56 pm

In attach the proposal for a balanced plane set for NE_Africa phase 1.
As you will see the Bf-109's are all the E7 version which match up very well with the P40's. They cannot carry bombs (loadout has been removed). In essence, The 109's have been "rolled back" to the period April-October 41 to achieve an interesting and even fighter matchup.
The best plane in the deck is the Mc202. The other planes have advantages versus disadvantages of various degrees against each other.
The Axis have an advantage in Ground attack aircraft with the Ju87's & Bf-110's. While the Allies have the advantage in various bomber types & the Beaufighter MkI (although in limited numbers).
I would propose in both sectors to have a limit of 8xMc202's per mission.
There are a lot of planes for both sides (640 each), however, take into account the map is rather big and planes are spread out and often needed to defend the coastal areas.
Secondly, there are plenty of dedicated torpedo bombers on both sides, which obviously can only be used against ships.
Thirdly, with 40 seats per side, 16 missions and an expected loss rate of 50% we simply need a lot of planes.
In return, we can forget about replacements through production. What you have to start is what you'll have for this phase.

Please review the plane sets and provide your feedback at the earliest. I'm particularly interested in hearing the opinion of the French and Spanish communities. Once we have an agreement, we can see who is going to fly which side.

EDIT:
Replace P40B with TomahawkIIa & P40C with TomahawkIIB.
Only the TomahawkIIB will have bomb load outs.
Numbers remain the same.

Hi all!

Overall seems a good planeset and very historic, congratulations Peter!. Although we are used to start with fewer aircraft from the beginning of the campaign, but if the other participants agree we have no problem.

On the other hand, we miss some models on the German side, we suggest replace some of the "E-7" to "E-4 Jabo" and do the same with the "Fiat G-50" replace as "Mc-200 Series 1-3 "to give some variety to planeset and represent models that have been left out.

Hi Florete,

Thanks for your feedback. One down, one more to go. Where are the French when you need them! :P

1. 109E4/B: we could have 12-16 of those. However, they are basically the same as the E7's, but have no drop tank for a very modest load out. I'm not sure they are worth the trouble.
2. Fiat G-50, as far as I can see there is only one version of the G50. Am I missing something?
3. Mc-200. I'm unsure about the performance difference between the models to judge the impact of having different versions. Can the someone help?

The above being said, I'm hesitant to add to many different variants unless they actually contribute something or they are in significant numbers. 8 of this, 4 of something else, etc... What's the gain?

Sorry for the mistake, I surely would badly explained. What I mean is to replace some of the 72 "Fiat G-50" for "Macchi MC-200" Series 1 or 3.

From what we've flown the "Fiat G-50" is a pretty modest with little chance against the "Hurricanes Mk.IIa / b" or "Tomahawks".

The "Macchi MC-200 1/3" is about 100km / h faster and has better overall flight characteristics. Definitely a great opponent to consider, and an incentive to fly an Italian fighter.

Note that these models are only fighters can not load bombs.

I leave in your hands the total numbers! Thanks Peter!

About the different series of Italian aircraft, is better to know that "serie" stand for "batch", and indicate different construction batches, often built by different factories (i.e C.200 and C.202 were built by Macchi, Breda and SAI Ambrosini).

Thus is quite different for the various Mark of english aircraft, or the number following the version of german fighters, that often indicate different engines, armament and so on.

So, in italian aircraft, generally speaking, there was no different performances between series, having the aircraft the same engine, same armament, same armor etc.

Some small improvements was, in some cases, the possibility to carry small bombs (C.200 serie 7) or two more 7,7 guns from the 7th serie of Macchi C.202 (but, in real life, these weapons was dismounted from aircraft, because pilots don't like extra weight for so small caliber guns, that affected manouverabilty)

Hello guys I have a question about a Bf109 version that is going to be used.
We want to practice a bit with or against the 109 so we are intersted in this

There are Bf109E7 / B / N / Z models...

Any idea what 109 will be in our campaign?

Hi Jack,

109 E7 only in phase 1.

Please note that the P40's will be the Tomahawk IIa & IIb.

Cheers,
Petr

:D

Language barrier... What I asked was what model of E7 will there be in phase1? There are 3 models, like I wrote in first post, "B" "N" and "Z".
