Hi all,

Phase 2 will proceed and will start on 04/02 (still open for discussion). The mission time will be 21h30.

Some re-organization is necessary to account for the squadrons who will not participate, however, we have enough interested groups to fill most of the slots.

There will be a Pre-Phase 2 meeting to settle the day, time and rules on 21/01, 21h30 GMT+1.
StG77 TS: 78.46.72.117, no password.
All participants are welcome to attend.

Cheers,
Petr

Hi all

"7. Carriers
a. USN WASP: On-map at Gibraltar but not allowed to be moved until mission 3.
i. Full complement is 96, Max ferry capacity is 46 with 20 carrier planes on board. Ratio is 1 ferried plane for 2 carrier planes.
ii. 48x F4F-4's
iii. 24x SBD-3
iv. 24x TBD1'37
"

A question about rules:

If the target of the WASP is launching 48 SPITS towards Malta, Why WASP carry 48 F-4 and 48 TBD/SBD while total charge is 96 aircrafts?

Hi Bigans,

You should see this as the maximum capacity of Naval aircraft that the Wasp can load with no spits/hurri's on board.

If the Wasp loads Spits/hurri's than the capacity of naval aircraft is reduced as explained here:
Max ferry capacity is 46 with 20 carrier planes on board. Ratio is 1 ferried plane for 2 carrier planes.

Hope this clarifies things.

cheers,
Petr

Do you mean if Wasp is used as ferry it can load 46 spit/hurry for Malta and 20 F-4 as task force patrol; while if Wasp is used as carrier it can load 96 (48 FB/24TB/24DB)?

I don't understand why if WASP acts as a ferry should load less planes (only 20 F-4 and 46 hurry/spit) than if it acts as a carrier (96 airplanes).

Isn't a historical fact that WASP could carry till 96 planes?

It could carry upto 96 naval planes with wings that could fold. The Spits and Hurri's did not have this capability.
The absolute maximum the Wasp could carry of NONE naval planes is 46 + 20 naval fighters for protection.

So this is a historical limitation.

Sorry,
thinking about SPIT and Hurry I thought to Seafire MK III with manual wing fold, but it came in 1943.
Thanks
