Well it looks like I'm just going to throw in the towel, visit to specialist yesterday has thrown another bump in the missus' rocky road to recovery.
Apologies but I cant see me getting involved in anything for awhile till the dust settles. Hopefully that won't be too long.

I'm on vacation. Don't know if the mission planning schedule is the same as for previous Kopfdorfer's campaign: planning after each mission I think it was. If not, I can assist and jump into Ikey's IJN uniform and do some planning while he is busy.
Let me know if you're interested in.
Thanks

Hey Ikey,

I'm very sorry to hear about your wife , and hope she rebounds soon. Don't fret the SEOW stuff.
I hope to see you around when you can make it.

Luny ,
I'm glad you're still interested , and it looks as though Ikey's situation will leave Blue needing some help for TF8.
Scannon has agreed to do some Blue planning ; perhaps PMs between you guys is the best route to proceed ,
and establish how to share the load.

Let me know how you settle up.

I couldn't, I'm afraid.

Sorry

I'm doing some test runs with the ships, and noticed the Enterprise can run up to 100 km/h (also the Yorktown can run that fast).

The Illmarinen main artillery start shooting at 13 km, while her secondary arty shoots at 20 km. The 254 mm Bofors main guns had a range of 31 km (Wikipedia)

Will the technics file modified in some way, at least, to set the carrier top speed to a more real value? Otherwise, even the fastest destroyers will left behind and maybe planes will just push throttle forward and hooved over the deck .

Thanks

Ship speed is limited by SEOW DB - easy to change. :)

Hmm ,

Interesting. The true top speed of the Enterprise should be 32 knots/60km per hour. I found that the settings in HSFX were terribly inaccurate so I changed them - I thought to the historically correct values.
In fact I changed the speed of the majority of the vessels in the campaign because I found the same thing when assessing their historical speeds.
I'll check it out.

The ranges of the Coastal guns are an experiment in process - 4Shades and I have been testing and discussing getting more historical performance for these as they are hopelessly (and A-historically)outmatched by ships guns in terms of their HSFX7 performance.
This is why the Coastal batteries you would have in Ikey's initial template have been replaced with emplaced howitzers. The howitzers have more historical and more beneficial (for Blue) characteristics.

Please remember Luny that this campaign is an exercise for my understanding and ability to manipulate the SEDCS database to tailor my campaigns and I am likely to make some errors - also I appreciate your pointing out your findings so keep the thoughts coming.

By the time I get a couple more campaigns under my belt , I hope the errors will drop off to an insignificant number.

Cheers,

Sure, Kopf, I know this is a test campaign and I'm not looking for perfect historical values. I pointed those out just cos the carrier speed is a mistake in the game data wich was not in previous versions of the game (I believe) and is way beyond any possible real speed of that kind of ship. The Illmarinen arty came out doing a test of ship's range. I noticed the main arty didn't fire while the secondary did (trying to detect cruisers vs Finnish coastal max firing range, basically how far could the Coastal ship stay safe of enemy naval arty). I thought it was a model error until I saw the turrets spinning to fire on the enmy at 13 kms range. Looks like there is a wrong writing range in the game's data as the big guns range is 31 kms instead of 13.

Regarding the coastal arty and the other changes you and 4S did, are OK to me as, as you say, it's a test campaign wich main target is to gain experience for further ones. I'll not be there to examine the settings that deep. I prefer to play the thing and handle the situation with the cards we get and just point some things out to increase realism or make the whole campaign or even small and particular situations of it (like the at sea ships refuelling) much more real, if possible.
Thats all. Don't hink I'll be a nightmare complaining each mission about that or this real speed/range/firing range/armor thickness of each unit not to be millimetrically historical. In fact, I have no idea about any value but the ones the Wikipedia says when asked.

Good to know you have more campaigns to be built. I have to admit, I went yesterday to bed and rolled an hour or so, thinking on the fu****g Illmarinen and how to use it in the campaign. Like in the old days when campaigning in several maps. Luckily I slept before jumping out of the bed and run the FMB again to do some tests.

Ilmarinen ranges unusual too ?

I didn't change anything on her other than the speed.
I don't know how to change the gunnery capabilities other than to adjust the engagement ranges.

I'll run these by 4Shades as well , however if it isn't something I adjusted , I don't really know how to change anything in the gunnery values ( again , other than engagement range).

I really do appreciate you pointing these things out.

Yes, the range is wrong in the game, as I'm not using any modified technic file. I also think the range can be modified in the engagement range.

Remember, please, to send me the file Ikey sent you, as I have the template with the units before being placed, when you can.

Thanks

Hi

I got you e-mail, Kopf but read it this morning. I apologize for not planning any mission. Anyway, I still don't have any password for the blue side. If I get it, I'll plan for the next weekend.

Thank you, all.

Hi

I've experienced two problems in the Mission Planner. I'm using a laptop with internet explorer. Both the Scheduled missions plus the Logistic tabs can not be opened. I have to check it at home on my rig (Wednesday or Thursday), but wonder if this will work.
has anyone experienced such?
Seems there are some other problems to me. Have to check it at home.
