I apologies for my recent series of questions. I am a complete newbie in setting up SEOW.
I went to the MySQL website to download MySQL and ran across this note. I am in the process of building a new computer which will run Win Vista Ult 64bit. Is this going to be a factor?
MySQL 5.1:
To run MySQL on Windows, you need the following:
A Windows operating system such as 2000, XP, Vista, or Windows Server 2003. Only 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000 and later are supported; however, 64-bit Windows Vista is not yet supported. Windows 95/98/ME and versions of Windows older than these are no longer supported.

Re: MySQL and Vista 64bit
This is what confuses me. The first half of the sentence says 64 bit is supported but the second half says it is not.VT-51_Thud wrote:Only 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000 and later are supported; however, 64-bit Windows Vista is not yet supported.

Hi Thud,
I guess that the first bit means that Windows 2000 64 bit is supported, but that Vista 64 bit is not supported. They are two different operating systems.
I am not sure, but maybe you can run a 32 bit MySQL version on Vista 64.
You might need to read the MySQL forums. Here are some relevant threads:

I just wanted to post a comment for future reference for anybody using a 64-bit Vista computer. If you are new at this (like me) it is better to consider running the DCS on a 32-bit computer. At least long enough to understand how the SEOW and MySql work.
There is a lot of forum threads suggesting work-arounds. I tried them all with no luck. It's a bit too technical for the average person.
I'm sure I will eventually get it to work on a 64-bit Vista computer put for now I'm happy running it on a 32-bit Vista Laptop. And, you do not need a copy of IL2 installed on the computer you manage the DCS from.
