What does these objects represent and how did they came?

I have resently been pursuede to participate in two of the major SEOW campaigns.
During two diffent flight I ran into these objects. To most of us the look like major fuel tanks. They often stand on a long line. Usually 5-7. According to the guy who made the red template they are not part of the original red template. BTW, they where found together with a enemy unit, deep into (former?)red territory. Far out in the desert
My questions are:
- What are they
- What does they represent
- How did they came there

They should be fuel tanks; one can download fuel from transport units nearby and SE will create a fuel depot you can attack and destroy.
