I'm almost positive that it's got to do with the Temp airfield aspect but I have no viz on which airfields are Temp on the map itself so it makes it extremely difficult to assign the proper aircraft to the proper airfield. Frustrating.
Temporary airbases have "(T)" in the title bar of their tooltips in the Mission Planner. Also, every airbase has its layout n umber in brackets, e.g. "Abbeville (481)". Any airbase layout number greater than 1000 and less than 2000 is a temporary airbase.
Tomoose wrote:BTW I have not been prompted for a start date on any of my Initializing efforts, is that normal?
One of the later IL2 updates included date and time specification in the mission file, under Configure:Conditions:Date in FMB. If your template file contains this information then the DCS assumes that you want that date-time information to be used by default.
Tomoose wrote:I've tried a couple of the pre-made templates and created missions but I'm confused as to why it always seems to give only one flight for humans and usually not the one I want. I don't understand why the flights simply disappear when the mission is built (i.e. they are completed and assigned in MP but when the mission is built they are apparently not even considered).
Neither do I, people regularly plan many flights per mission and hundreds of ground & sea moves etc. But there can be many reasons why flights do not appear, including lack of fuel at airbases (if supply tracking is ON), or because of aircraft breakdown rates, or because of playability limits. Maybe some other things besides.

As Gross says, usually these things can easily be sorted if you let us see your MP and/or DB.

Still no joy. Here's a screenshot of a single mission. I specifically chose a human-flyable B-17 and made sure I picked the correct squadron/flight.
Below the graphic are a bunch of messages I get when building the mission. I don't understand why "no local airbase or carrier could be found..." I used FMB as per the manual with four waypoints and a 'land' waypoint for each flight (I'm guessing there's a game map vs Sector map mismatch?). (I checked the manual but can't find anything about this particular message). The last message is what I get at the end. Despite using a flyable B-17 flight it tells me there's no human flights available. What part(s) of the MP and/or database do you need to look at. Isn't the database the one I downloaded from SEOW (i.e. standard format and content)??

SEDCS::Unable to park flight Stab des Jagdgeschwaders 6 "Horst Wessel" St. 1, Schw. 1 as no local airbase or carrier could be found! Whilst this flight will probably be untaskable, this will not cause significant errors in this campaign.<p>
SEDCS::Unable to park flight Stab des Jagdgeschwaders 6 "Horst Wessel" St. 1, Schw. 1 as no local airbase or carrier could be found! Whilst this flight will probably be untaskable, this will not cause significant errors in this campaign.<p>
SEDCS::Unable to park flight Stab des Jagdgeschwaders 6 "Horst Wessel" St. 1, Schw. 2 as no local airbase or carrier could be found! Whilst this flight will probably be untaskable, this will not cause significant errors in this campaign.<p>
SEDCS::Unable to park flight Stab des Jagdgeschwaders 4 St. 1, Schw. 1 as no local airbase or carrier could be found! Whilst this flight will probably be untaskable, this will not cause significant errors in this campaign.<p>
SEDCS::Unable to park flight Stab des Jagdgeschwaders 4 St. 1, Schw. 2 as no local airbase or carrier could be found! Whilst this flight will probably be untaskable, this will not cause significant errors in this campaign.<p>

SEDCS::Mission 'SE-WESTFRONT44-194303301400' is ready to be hosted.
There are no flights for human pilots, but the mission must still be hosted to allow ground action to continue. Please use the "Radar Control" host aircraft provided.
(Overrun or cancelled flights: 0 Allied; 0 Axis)<p>

Regarding the "Secret" option in MP and the text "(human pilots = no secrecy)". I have NOT been selecting that because if I understand it correctly if I select the Secret box that means no human pilots at all or have I got that backwards?

As I suspected the "parking" messages were Sector vs proper FMB map. That's sorted. I have tried Secret "on" and Secret "off", one single mission but still "no human flights available".
UPDATE: I dumped the database and re-loaded the SQL. I went and checked the Object-Configuration and found that none of the B-17s were 'human' in the database. I changed them to 'human', saved the SQL and tried again. I just did a quick B-17 flight with P-47 escort. I had also un-selected "track supply".
It seems to have done the trick although I'm not sure why the P-47s weren't selectable before as they were already "human' in the database. Anyway, again, one-step forward. I'm hoping to repeat the process after I take a screenshot of each of the panel settings in DCS!!! ;)

I'm ready to punch the wall. Flushed the database, re-initialized with the same DCS settings. Created the same initial mission. Added a second B-17 flight and added a German fighter patrol.
Built the mission and.....
SEDCS::Mission 'SE-WESTFRONT44-194303300900' is ready to be hosted.
There are no flights for human pilots, but the mission must still be hosted to allow ground action to continue. Please use the "Radar Control" host aircraft provided.

I think I'll go back to DCG. I can do literally in minutes what is taking me hours to try and do in SEOW.

Hi Tomoose,

Sorry to hear of your continued frustrations. However it seems you did make some progress with the B-17s by changing them to human control, is that right? SEOW will put all planned flights into the mission, but AI-only flights will be locked to prevent humans occupying them. Opening an SEOW mission in FMB will show you all flights in the mission, human-flyable or not.

The offer to meet on TS and discuss your SEOW set-up still stands.

Cheers,

That's the annoying thing, it's the exact same flight as the previos build, so why is it suddenly non-human??

No idea. It is hard for me to assess your set-up and problems unless I can see your MP and DB, and understand your workflow. I am not sure that you have installed the software correctly either.

Hello Tomoose^^
SEOW use many parameters and records. It's quite impossible to solve your problem without all datas. A simple way is to backup your database (just after initialization) and send it to Shades, Gross or me. Then we can reproduce your issue ^^
