Official SEOW

Thanks to the install guide and these forums, I think I've successfully set up all the elements of a SEOW server.

But being a n00b to SEOW, I'm not sure. In launching DCS -- I use the Kursk template and campaign missions -- things seem to start and run OK, but I'm not sure how to log in myself as a player, and of course I need someone from outside to check on the setup. So perhaps I'm not fully understanding the concept.

Would someone be willing to do a short test? I can also run my TeamSpeak server to talk about the set up.

Once you have loaded the Kursk template using the DCS, you need to make sure that your MP is pointing at your database. You do this by loading the MP4/Scripts/MP-Admin.php file in your IE browser and entering the appropriate DB settings.

Once this is done, your MP becomes the full player (or "commander") interface for planning and reporting missions. Default player passwords are contained in the DB table "PilotData". These accounts are used to log in to the MP Kursk sector. The idea is that commanders order sorties, and the DCS Build operation combines all the separate orders into a single flyable coop mission. People then fly the mission together, and the DCS Analyze parses the results and updates your Kursk battlefield accordingly. Start planning the next movement orders and do the next DCS Build, etc etc.

The best way to see SEOW in action is to sit in on some of the working wars at www.scorchedearthxtreme.org and talk to Hitcher or Brandle on Xtreme TS about how it works. It sounds complicated, but it isn't really. It can take as little as 45 sec to plan an escorted ground attack flight, or to advance a tank platoon, or to create a naval task force, etc.
