Question about adding Highways

We are preparing a campaign template for the Murmansk Map and were facing some problems with the behaviour of the ground units (also see http://raf74.net/seow/viewtopic.php?p=799 ). We are now thinking about adding highways to the map, and after looking at the tables "highways" and "highway_intersections" I think that I nearly understand these tables and the necessary steps for adding highways. The only value that I don't understand is the field "Orientation". I have no idea what this means and what I have to enter there for new Routes. Any Hints on that matter are welcome!

Thanks

The name "Orientation" is a misnomer that comes from the dark SEOW past. It really refers to a terrain type for each waypoint. In Oleg-speak, the terrain type can be any of the following 3 values:

20 : means a standard highway node on the in-game road network.
120 : means a human-entered waypoint not necessarily on a highway node
negative number : indicates a bridge node

If you are going to add a new road route where none exists in-game, then you would simply use "120" for all your highway nodes. Make sure your new roads start and end at junctions with other roads, where possible. Every T-junction should have 3 roads terminating there. Every cross-roads should have 4 terminating roads etc.

FYI, a negative number "-b" indicates bridge "b-1". So if you want to drive over bridge 32 you would use terrain value "-33".
