In Warg's excellent campaign templates, I have just loaded up his Stalingrad campaign and noticed in his notes that the map starts with the summer map and after 6 hours changes to the winter map.
In the database I notice in the seasons table that the summer map starts 04010000 and the winter map starts 10010000. Should I be changing either of these values so that the winter map starts at 11am on 1st Dec 1942 - initial campaign start time is 5am 1st Dec 1942?

Yes, you are correct Goanna, you can change those season entries to customize your own seasonal transitions. Here's some background:
IL-2 supports summer and winter maps in some (not all) sectors. Two that spring to mind immediately are Stalingrad and Kurland, there are more besides.
Where appropriate, SEOW will automatically swap between the two maps according to the campaign date and time. That means in one mission (before the season change) you might be flying over green forests and watery rivers, but in the next mission (after season change) you may see snow fields and ice. The season change is independent of the weather conditions.
You can tell SEOW at what times of the year to change between summer and winter maps (and vice versa) simply by editing the Sector_Seasons table of the DB. The entries are dates and times written in SEOW "sequence number" format, without the year specifiers. In Goanna's post he mentions the default seasonal transition dates for Stalingrad as "04010000" for winter->summer, and "10010000" for summer->winter.
Each of these numbers is interpreted as follows:
first two digits = month
next two digits = day of the month
next four digits = time of day on 24-hour clock
So 04010000 is "0000 hours, 1 April" and 10010000 is "0000 hours, 1 October".
Feel free to alter these settings to suit your campaign scenario.
