Ships are Converted to Stationary Ships

When I initialize a campaign some ships are converted from moving vehicles to stationary. Is there a setting for that so that they can be controlled by the MP? None of the ships seemed to allow the mission planner to set way points for them?

Hi Wolfhnd,

The MP automatically allows you to set waypoints for all combat objects, including ships. The only time you cannot set waypoints for an object (platoon, flight, flotilla, train) is if it is already moving (in progress) or if it is refueling or out of fuel.

If you initialize a campaign using a template that has moving objects in it, then those units will appear in the MP as "in progress" and will obey those movement orders in subsequent missions. The DCS has a neat little tool called "Remove In Progress" which will cancel all "in progress" missions, aloowing commanders to issue new orders. There are also two campaign settings for truncating ground and sea movement orders at the end of each mission, which will prevent unused waypoints being carried over into the next mission.

The template I used (Midway Torpedo Eight 4 June 1942 By IV/JG7_Warg) showed the ships moving but in game they were stationary during the first mission generated by SEDCS. I haven't tried the remove in progress but was surprised that the ships were not moving. At this point I'm just trying to learn how things work.

I was also wondering how to air start flights other than escorts.

Hi Wolfhnd,

I just had a look at Torpedo Eight template. I think you will find that Warg placed all the ships as Chiefs (moving) but with very short routes(!). So when you build the first mission and spawn on the deck, the carrier might already have stopped!

Just reload the template, remove all "in progress" missions and then you are ready to plan your ship or task force movements, plus flights etc and blast off!
