I do like it too... Skip bombing was to easy. carrier could be sunk whit 2 planes and if you plot your flight bath correct. It was 90 times of hundred that it was successful. Dive bombing is there limit that will it take to fun of it. You need trop bomb little earlier and if not sure targets altitud...

Did your pilots die before torpedo hits? if yes torpedo don't make any damage.. ( Some flaw in IL-2 code.. or just ensuring that no one make suicide attack whit bomb/torpedo) And they were on move so maybe one or two misses...
