Re: Introducing meta-SEOW
Hi Jones, We have a few dedicated CM players around here, and there would be interest in pursuing a link between SEOW and CM. However, to my knowledge, the multiplayer support in CM is not sophisticated and the file formats used are hidden which all makes it very hard to use CM in a meta-gaming sen...

Re: Introducing meta-SEOW
What other games would be candidates to be used in meta-SEOW? Some options are: Silent Hunter (for purely naval operations) Iron Front (for ground operations) Battlefront.com's Combat Mission So this forum will be devoted to discussions on the meta-SEOW concept, choice of games, and how to incorpor...

Re: SEOW as a Strategy Game
Possible compression of time so mission without humans could be ran at an accelerated pace? In regards to this comment from Zoi's original post, could SEOW generate single player missions instead of Coop missions? This would allow time compression to be used. Question is would the IL-2 game output ...

I have read this thread with interest, thanks to everyone for pursuing it. Many thanks 4Shades. Having cameras placeable in the MP from one mission to the next would be a good step (though of course would do nothing for the player who does not own IL-2). Having the flash animation in the MP (with v...

Not everyone finds planning boring. Believe me, I don't find if boring either. However, many people that I would like to get involved in a commander role (and who have initially expressed interest in being a commander) do find it difficult (which is just a training issue) and more importantly don't...

I have read this thread carefully and have a little difficulty in where this thread is meant to be going. Let me try to articulate what I think Zoi is trying to say. I feel that Zoi and I had an understanding when we talked about this so here's my side. What SEOW seems to be missing is the interact...

External Cameras
Is there a way to place external cameras in the MP? I'd like to be able to place external cameras so that there can be a bird's eye view of a location for side that placed it. There is a Cameras table in the database but I can't find any documentation on how it is used. Many thanks in advance for yo...

Thanks for your response, 4Shades. With the 4.11 changes, I think the next development cycle for SEOW will be quite long. Coding to take advantage of the new static plane spawn points, for instance could be quite tricky, but would add a huge amount to the SEOW immersion experience. Anyway, I'll say ...

Now that 4.11 is out, can anyone think of any pitfalls in running an SEOW campaign using stock 4.11? I know that the HSFX flag would need to be turned off for the campaign in question, but is there any reason why it wouldn't work or something would screw up? Of course, all the cool features such as ...

Imminent 4.11 release
What is the "official" best practice regarding TD patches to IL-2 and on-going campaigns? I'm using the HSFX mod pack, so should I continue to use 4.10.1 until HSFX has been updated for 4.11? Or should I just remove all mods, apply 4.11 and then re-enable HSFX 5.0.1? Not looking for any ha...

I think the best fit for expanding platforms would be a port for Rise of Flight. None of the core concepts would need to be changed, all the work would be in creating the data for the new map, aircraft, ground objects, etc. After that it would require new algorithms for generating the mission files ...

Internet Explorer 9 support
Is this in the works at all? I just read that Microsoft is now going to be upgrading people "silently" and so I anticipate some pain for anyone with Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the future.
