COMING SOON: Korea Map for SEOW

Post by Flatspin »

Thud (from AG-51) and I are going to begin work on making the Korea Map available for SEOW. Neither of us has done this before, so at this early stage we're not going to promise an ETA...but we'll notify the community of updates as progress is made. :D

Also, if someone is already working on this, let us know so we all aren't wasting our time!

Thanks Dore, your contribution to the community in this capacity will put you at the top of the list for questions - don't be surprised if we send a few your way!

We're starting with this thread as source material and I understand most of it: http://www.seowhq.net/seowforum/viewtop ... hlight=map

I was part of the team that created the KTO map, knowing nothing of map-making before I started, so hopefully learning how to code it for SEOW isn't any more difficult.

Well both Thud and I got mired in RL stuff, and though I'm just about ready to get going on this again, I see that Dixiecapt is working on a Ver. 2 due out by Xmas. No sense in continuing development on a map that's going to be history in 2 months.

Will resume project after the first of the year on the new map.

KTO map will be in the next release of SEOW, this map is included in HistorySFX4.0, so we'll use this one. We'll see next year if it's neccessary to actualise like I did for English Channel 1940 ==> Channel40

OK, KTO (Korea/Japan) is done. Some checkings to do and I'll send it tomorrow to Shades.
Nice missions with F9F2 Panther and F80C Shooting Star ;-). The map is large but very light for online, specially with HistorySFX4.0 ;-) Great pleasure.

Dore's tour de force continues!

He has just contributed Crete for SEOW, bringing the total number of maps supported in SEOW to an incredible 60.

I remember talking with RAF74_Taipan years ago about how we should limit the number of maps to 10-12....

Cheers,

KTO Map:

As you know HistorySFX4.1 includes a new KTO map. (4 New airbases, new roads, bridges...) The actual KTO map for SEOW is the old one. I'm working on a new release. Note: A campaign initialized on the old map can be updated to the new one.
This map and the new airplanes of History4.1 give us an very interesting IL2 extension to 1949/1955.
One more week

This from avid users of the Korea Map(s), Hatter at AG-51:
The new Korea map has been causing errors, similar to 'memory leaks' from some of the other large maps.

I'm not writing off the new Korea map as a whole, but I think it needs more testing.

BTW, game crashes and graphical anomolies, to my knowledge, were never encountered on the Beta map like they have been on this new version. We ran extended DF maps and large coops with no trouble.
